We are seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to support and guide our employee-owner population. This position will assist and support the organization’s human resources programs by planning, implementing, evaluating, and improving employee-owner policies, programs, and practices.

In this key role, the Human Resources Manager will promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, quality, and teamwork for our growing, 180+ employee-owner population. This individual will manage employee-owner engagement and development, total compensation and benefits, employee-owner relations, performance management system and processes, wellness, leadership development and succession planning, and support recruitment and retention.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated HR professional who possesses a blend of knowledge and interest in technology and Human Resources Administration. A strong, on-site presence at our Portland, ME and Manchester, NH offices, is expected for success in the role, with the opportunity to work remotely several days per month.


  • Promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Oversee HR-related administrative duties and ensure compliance with existing legal, security, and governmental reporting requirements.
  • Ensure Employee-Owner Handbook is kept updated and accessible to all employee-owners.
  • Regularly review policies and procedures, making recommendations for updates and revisions.
  • Work to support the recruitment process, including but not limited to job description updates, processing employment documents, and offer letter generation.
  • Oversee security and compliance training.
  • Administer benefits and compensation plans. Lead the coordination and delivery of benefits enrollment and orientation for employee-owners.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely completion of annual merit increase plan.
  • Ensure employee-owners are paid on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Administer various leaves of absence programs in compliance with various federal and state laws.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership on ESOP-related responsibilities and plan administration.
  • In partnership with Director, develop and lead effective employee-owner relations.
  • Advise managers on appropriate disciplinary or corrective plans of action.
  • Work with organizational leadership to establish fair and effective performance management processes, including the performance review process.

  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen; experience with people metrics.
  • Demonstrated success of at least eight to ten years of strong, hands-on HR generalist and HR operational experience, with at least five years in a management role.
  • Broad knowledge of, and experience in, developing and managing employee-owner benefits programs in a self-insured environment, including retirement, 401(k) type programs. This includes experience working with various brokers and third-party administrators.
  • ESOP experience strongly preferred, or the ability and desire to become fluent in such.
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a fast-moving environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills is required, and experience in ConnectWise is preferred.
  • Experience with various payroll systems and administration. Paylocity experience is a definite plus.
  • Broad knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, practices, and policies. This includes deep experience managing various leaves of absence programs.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
