Our People & Culture Department is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our growing team of employee-owners. This position will provide support to our HR Manager in the day-to-day operational functions of the Office of People & Culture with a focus on payroll and benefit administration along with HRIS system maintenance.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working with people, enjoys working with technology (HRIS), is detail oriented, & possesses a continuous improvement mindset. This role will contribute to a positive and engaging workplace culture centered around employee ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Administer bi-weekly payroll, ensure timely & accurate processing, manage payroll changes and adjustments when needed, and ensure reconciliation and reporting is complete and accurate.
  • Provide support for annual audit compliance for 401k, ESOP, and state tax compliance as needed. Willingness to conduct audits in the realm of payroll and benefits as required.
  • Support employee owners in a professional, engaging, empathetic, and positive manner when it comes to questions on various payroll-related topics.
  • Perform monthly benefit invoice reconciliations.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding & employee offboarding processes, support in the organization and maintenance of employee personnel files, documentation, and compliance.
  • Serve as a lead subject matter expert on HRIS (Paylocity) and support managers and employees in adopting HRIS system modules.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2-3 years of experience in payroll, HRIS, and benefit administration is preferred.
  • A people & team-oriented, results-driven individual, passionate about creating an exceptional employee-owner experience with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to relate to all internal and external customers, in a positive and professional manner.
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality, demonstrated experience working with highly sensitive information.
  • Willingness to learn and understand employment/labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while maintaining an eye towards detail.
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting to groups of individuals virtually, in person, and in hybrid environments.
  • Possess excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, eagerness to solve problems and try out solutions.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 (Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. SharePoint & Paylocity experience preferred.
  • The team is always learning and growing, so a passion for technology and a track record of continuous learning are also key.
  • This is a hybrid role with a required onsite presence at our offices at least 2 days a week, standard work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
